We are home after a few days in Queensland. Total eclipse 1815

Headlines: Hot. Sticky. Exhausting. Breathtaking (in at least three ways). It was cloudy for the total eclipse, but cleared up just enough that we saw it.

More to follow, but it won't be tonight. In the meantime, have a teaser photo...

It was cloudy for the total eclipse, but cleared up just enough that we saw it.

The 1999 eclipse was like that for me. My understanding is that this is a well known phenomenon, but there is no agreement about how the shadow can quickly burn (freeze?) a small brief hole in the cloud.
