It's in the Avonhead Park Cemetery, which is a short cycle from our home. It's in a beautiful quiet parkland setting, on the edge of the city surrounded by suburbia.
The memorial takes the form of a circular grassed area with rose beds surrounding a plinth bearing a message, repeated in a number of languages (including Braille).
Etched in our city's memory
Never to be forgotten
The City of Christchurch

The inner circle is dedicated to the four victims whose remains were not able to be identified. A steel ring surrounding the plinth bears the message:
The people of Christchurch will forever remember the unfound victims of the 22 February 2011 Earthquake

The centrepiece is flanked by memorial plots for each of the identified victims. Many of these have headstones.
