Coming to the end of a week off, I find myself wanting to post something but not sure exactly what. So here are some random witterings...
It has been a busy week, mostly a holiday-at-home. We've had a few tradesmen round... it's great to now be able to close all our internal doors! The new carpet, and possibly the quakes, had caused some issues. Alas, the heat pump that didn't appear to be working is not economically repairable; sadly it took $100 of gas recharge as well as $120 of the guy's time and consumables before he could tell me this, which leaves a bit of a nasty taste. The roofer has quoted for mending the broken tiles, cleaning and painting them, and we're waiting to hear back for painting the bargeboards and soffits. We're also waiting to hear back how much it will cost to install some ceiling and underfloor insulation, and for a second quote on fitting a heat pump in the bedroom. We have also been busy ourselves, setting up and quakeproofing some more shelving in the living room, repainting the exterior door frames, and unpacking a few more boxes.
On more a fun note I have, at long last, completed my BFR and now only a paperwork dance stands between me and getting my NZ PPL. Finally, we spent a night away in Akaroa; we visited the cheese factory, cruised around the old volcanic caldera on a lovely old yacht, stuffed ourselves full of nice food and returned via the summit road which - as you might expect from its name - is quite a tricky three-dimensional drive.
I might have bought Civ5. I may be some time.
